Last post for now

I think I'm going to stop writing in this for a while because of 1) lack of consistency of my own schedule; 2) lack of general interest ; and 3) fear of offending those not comfortable with certain things being said about the Edge, in that order.

Sorry if I'm disappointing anyone.

Dinner - Thursday February Fifth

I think I'm going to shift to a ranking system because standards for things like "good" and "wonderful" vary a lot from person to person.

Tonight, from best to worst:

Entrees:
1. Marinara based (RED) lasagna
2. Pasta bar
3. Pizza
4. Dijon Chicken
5. Cheese based (WHITE) lasagna
?. the tortilla wrap [I didn't try it; I don't know where it goes]

When I got there, they were serving the red lasagna; by the time I left they had switched to the white. They may switch back; I don't know.

Sides:

1. Baked Potato Soup
2. Fired Zucchini
3. Apple
4. Scallopped Potatos
5. mini Italian sandwiches
6. Mixed Veggies

Desert:

The strawberry dish is interesting. I enjoyed it, but be warned that it has like twenty-seven different textures in it. It's got the strawberries with syrup, a condensed milk-type layer, a cool whip layer, a layer of light fluffy vanilla cake, coconut shavings, and nuts. Oh, and I put ice cream on it, too. I don't think I've ever tasted anything with quite so much going on at once - and again, I enjoyed it, but your own experience may vary with personal preference.

The tiramisu appears to be similar to last night's batch (if you like cheese cake, you'll love it), although I didn't try it again tonight.

If you disagree with my rankings or think I left something out, let me know by leaving a comment.

Dinner - Wednesday February fourth

Dinner is pretty good.

I didn't try the fried chicken, but the ravioli is pretty good. It's either "good and cheesy" or "good, but cheesy" depending on whether you like your Italian food cheesy.

The soups and bread-and-butter cart are still there from lunch. The cinamon butter is the best of the four. The other butters are pretty good too, but are spiced rather strongly - try them first in small amounts.

The vegetables are really good tonight.

For deserts, the strawberry pie is the best (in my opinion) by far. It goes very well with ice cream on top of it. They also have tiramisu cups (brown, coffee-flavored pudding with vanilla wafers) which have a strong cheesecake taste - if you like cheesecake, you'll love them.

Of course, if you don't like the ravioli and don't want fried chicken, there's always the stir fry bar or pizza.

Oh, and I don't know if other people noticed this a few weeks ago...but the Edge now has PISTACHIOS!! They're on the table by the cereal that has all the candy and icecream toppings.

Lunch - Wednesday February Fourth

First of all, I'm sorry this post is so late.

My favorite cool thing today is the bread and butter cart. They have four different kinds of flavored butter (the Cinnamon is the best) to put on rolls. Eat this last though, so you don't end up eating nothing more than three pounds of bread and butter for all of lunch.

Either the stir fry or the pizza is probably the best main entrée for lunch today.

The Mexican Tortilla Soup is fairly good.

Dinner - Tuesday February Third

It might be a good idea to go with the stir-fry bar or the turkey sandwiches over the Asian orange chicken.

I didn't get to try the turkey sandwiches, but a girl named Tiffany, who was sitting at my table, said they were very good but not terribly filling.

If you like food that's really spicy, you might like the pasta salad they have there.

I didn't try any of the deserts but I was told that the coffe-chocolate flavored one with vanilla wafers in it was very good.

Best of night: the fried Zucchini (to the left of the stir-fry bar). Try it, even if you don't normally like Zucchini or squash in general - my friend Sam couldn't believe it was Zucchini.

Both soups (potato soup by the pizza area and red pepper soup across from the salads) are worth getting.

As always, feel free to leave a comment adding to what I've said.

Lunch - Tuesday February Third

The main thing you have to be careful of at lunch today is not to get too much food. So much of it is so good that it is very easy to overeat.

To start, the Monte Cristo sandwiches (ham, bacon, and cheese on french toast) were better (and heavier) than I ever knew a sandwich could be. There's something almost uncomfortably decadent about it - you can almost taste a hint of Maple Syrup. I would imagine these sandwiches are not for those on diets.

The hotdog cart has steamed hot dog buns this time; it's really nice.

Try the "cucumber salad" with the linguine. It's good, and although it's a repeat (I had some yesterday as well), its vinegar-rich nature makes it just as good today as it was then. The first bites are, however, better than the last ones - but that's probably because I was getting so full from the Monte Cristo. I don't know; I can't move now.

The Roasted Pepper soup (on the salad counter) was good as always.

I didn't try:
-the pizza
-the stir fry bar (probably same as always)
-any deserts (after the MC?? no way!)
-the baked potato things, although they looked goood

February Second, 2009 - Dinner

The main meal (the one they're serving on the far right) tonight consists of the pork chops (i think they call it Lime Chili Pork) which is excellent; a black bean and vegetable dish that is pretty good, and Spanish rice which is wonderful.

The pasta bar is there tonight, and I have no reason to think that part is any better or worse tonight than usual.

They also have a nacho cart with a spiced chicken mince instead of the typical beef. I didn't try it - I went with the cheese and jalepeños instead - but it looked pretty good. Also, when I was down there, the black cart was well-stocked with jalepeños and banana peppers to complement the nachos.

The broccoli-cheese soup is pretty good. Definitely try it if you haven't.

I didn't try any of the deserts except the rather consistent ice cream; if anyone would like leave a helpful comment about them, that would be appreciated.
